I'm a wife, a mom, and Gigi to my grandchildren, and those are my favorite things to be.
As a child, both of my grandmothers were positive I would be a writer or journalist when I grew up, and I spent years denying my destiny. (Never ignore the old ladies in your life. They tend to know what they're talking about.) Instead, I became a CPA, a career I'm both proud of and thankful for even though I probably should have been writing all along.
It took a lot of messengers along the way, but I finally stopped fighting it and sat down to write my first novel, Rich Man's House. There were too many stops and starts, and several additional messengers, before I finally completed it years later. (Don't ask how many, I'm too embarrassed to say.) Completing that book and publishing it are all the proof I need that anything is possible if you believe in yourself and push through the hard times.
And that is the theme you'll find as we continue this journey together, because life will always throw us obstacles. I believe our assignment is to survive them and spin them into tales of triumph. At least, it's certainly my assignment.
When I'm not writing or doing CPA stuff, I love to travel, cook fabulous meals with my husband, love on my pups, work out, and do home improvement or woodworking projects.
I like to imagine Grandma Margaret and Grandma Susie are both looking down from heaven and feeling pretty happy that I finally listened to them. And I think they'd be pretty impressed with the woodworking as well.
